Get Involved
We’re looking for people from all parts of the community to shape the Jesus Son of Mary Community Centre. If you are able to contribute your ideas and skills in any way please get in contact.
History of the building
The building where the community centre now sits was first erected in the year 1814 as the the first Bushey Chapel by the Christian liberality of Robert Capper, who was at that time Lord of the the Manor of Bushey. The first minister of the old chapel was the Reverend Thomas Gilbart.
There were major alterations to the interior of the church in 1990.
The church was subsequently converted into a dance hall for several years before being put up for public sale.
In August 2024, the Ahmad family, who are local to the Bushey community, purchased the building. They transformed it into a mosque and community centre, serving the local community while honoring the building's religious origins.
